Getting the job list down now…

Posted by on August 16, 2011

It’s getting down to the wire now…. We leave the marina in two days to pull the masts and fit the mast based equipment.

The sea strainer went on today, Replumbed the diesel feed for the engine to make room. The new VHF is in, with the second station mounted in the cockpit and all working. Word of warning; when Standard Horizon say the remote can be cut to length, they don’t say how tedious it is to rejoin. The many wires in that cable are tiny!

I have plumbed an ignition feed from the start switch to a switch to allow me to choose between the internal regulator in the 6-series Balmar alternator and the smart external regulator (a Balmar MC-612-Dual).

Oddly, the regulator doesn’t fire up when it’s got a positive on the ignition wire. I have just read through the instruction manual and will trouble-shoot that tomorrow.

The engine has been serviced and runs a treat, so this regulator problem is the only thing left to sort out before the engine is a going concern again.

The stuff we got made from Dynamic Welding is here… The wind generator mount looks particularly good, and the wind generator has arrived from the UK, so I’m looking forward to fitting it and getting it working.
